National Games should not be moved out of Asom, says AASU advisor
New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI) All Assam Student Union (AASU) advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharjee today spoke out against any moves to change the venue of the 33rd National games, scheduled to be held at Guwahati from February 9 to 18 next month.
Talking to UNI over phone from Asom, Dr Bhattacharjee said that holding of such a prestigious national event was an honour for the state, which should not be allowed to go waste just because the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has threatened to spoil it.
He said the state Government in consultation with the Centre must ensure total safety to the players and all others involved in conducting the great event in the State.
He said, ''It is a great honour bestowed on the people of Asom and the people should ensure that the name of the State is not tarnished.'' UNI
