Nari Niketan incharge suspended for mismanagement
Karnal, Jan 12 (UNI) A Chief Judicial Magistrate raided the Haryana's only Nari Niketan here and suspended its superintendent Rajni Malik, after finding the inmates in deplorable condition.
Rajni Malik was suspended by the state welfare department for mismanaging the affairs in the Niketan and not providing adequate facilities to the inmates.
CJM R N Bharti, during the raid, found the rehabilitation centre in unhygeinic conditions and inmates deprived of basic facilities.
He recommended prompt medical aid to five girls besides recommending hospitalisation to as many mentally challenged girls.
The situation inside the Nari Niketan came to the fore when newspersons visited it along with the district officials on the occasion of the release of some girls from Bengal and Jharkhand to their parents.
Noting that the sum of Rs five lakh released annually by the ministry of social welfare was not adequately utilised, Mr Bharti said he would recommend imparting some vocational and technical education to the inmates of the Nari Niketan.
