Mount Abu freezes at -2, cold wave continues
Jaipur, Jan 12 (UNI) In the grip of an intense cold wave, Rajasthan's only hill station Mount Abu was freezing cold at minus 2 degrees celsius today.
Mount Abu's residents woke up to snow-covered mountains and fields, making the hill station more scenic. Even water in the tanks froze due to biting cold and accompanying cold winds.
Crops like cummin, mustard, vegetables, gram are likely to be affected due to ground frost in the state's northern and western regions. The agriculture department has advised farmers to smoke spray twice in the day to prevent crops from getting damaged. The state capital recorded 4 degree today but biting cold continues. The sun is not strong enough to penetrate the partly covered sky making people shiver.
According to the weather department, Churu and Ganganagar recorded 2 degree, Pilani mapped 3 degree, Dholpur and Udaipur 5, Barmer and Bikaner 6, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bharatpur 7, Kota 9, Bundi and Rawatbhata 10 degree.
The weathermen predict the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 4 degree Celsius in the state and Jaipur would not experience much change in its temperature.
