Metal prices upswing on lesser stock supply

Mumbai, Jan 12 (UNI) Metal prices were on an upswing today on lesser stock supply, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In the ferrous category, copper heavy increased by Rs 900 per quintal. Copper utencils and brass utencils were also up by Rs 300 each.

Brass cuttings and Aluminium utencils also hiked by Rs 100 each per quintal on good demand.

In the non-ferrous segment, copper wire bar, zinc slab went up by Rs 300 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on higher advice and lead ingot was up by Rs 100 per quintal.

Tin slab was also slightly up by Rs five.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 31,200, copper utensils - Rs 29,000, brass utensils - Rs 22,600, brass cuttings - Rs 24,600 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,200.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 33,800, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,450, zinc slab - Rs 21,100, lead ingots - Rs 7,300 tin slab - Rs 595 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,740 (per kg).
