Man kills pregnant wife, son

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jan 12 (UNI) In a ghastly act, a man allegedly axed his pregnant wife to death, suspecting her fidelity, and killed his three-year-old son in Paranda tehsil of Osmanabad district.

The accused, Satish Srikar Gophane, a truck driver working in Mumbai, had called his wife at his uncle's shop at Botra village and later brought his son there. On tuesday midnight, he axed his wife to death and later set on fire the shop in which he threw his three-year-old son, who was fast asleep, for destroying the proof of the crime, police said.

Police Inspector of Paranda police station, D S Birajdar, who is investigating the case, told UNI over telephone yesterday, the accused had reportedly confessed to the crime and police have arrested him and his parents.

The trio would be produced before a local magistrate, Mr Birajdar said.
