Bangalore, Jan 12 (UNI) Karnataka Transport Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy today said that the state government has planned to set up a high-tech security system at all locations of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in view of the increased terrorist threats in the city.

The minister told reporters here today that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had conducted a survey of all locations of depots, workshops, bus stations and corporate offices of the BMTC and submitted a report suggesting ways and means to improve the security.

On the recommendations of CISF and considering the security threat, the Board of Directors of BMTC had approved installation of CCTVs at BMTC units.

The BMTC had sent 40 employees to get training in handling weapons at the Armed Training School in Yelahanka for induction in the system. They were also trained in fire fighting and the basics about explosives to provide security to 35 lakh BMTC commuters everyday, he said.

He said that CISF has conducted a similar survey for installing a high-tech security system at the state Vidhana Sabha.
