JK Assembly passes bill for preventing witnesses turning hostile
Jammu, Jan 12 (UNI) In a landmark step, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed a bill, seeking amendments in the penal code to prevent witnesses turning hostile and ensure more accurate investigation process.
The Bill sought amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir State Ranbir Penal Code (Samvat 1989), the Code of Criminal Procedure (Samvat 1989) and Evidence Act (Samvat 1977).
The investigation, after this amendments, would be more accurate and perfect by getting the statements made by persons before the inquiry officer.
State Assembly also passed two bills to provide for regulating the quality of saffron and to ensure its genuineness for sale and export and for matters connected there with or incidental thereto.
