Jan 16 to be dry day in Pondy

Puducherry, Jan 12 (UNI) The authorities today declared January 16 as dry day on account of Thiruvalluvar Day.

According to an Excise release here today, all arrack and toddy shop and bar owners had been advised to down shutters on January 16.

Those violating the diktat would be punished.

A release from the Local Administration Department said the sale of meat and fish had been banned on the day due to Vallalar Jyothi.
