Indexes flat at open on AMD, data
NEW YORK, Jan 12 (Reuters) US stocks were little changed on Friday after chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and other technology companies gave disappointing outlooks and stronger-than-expected retail sales data stirred interest-rate worries.
Offsetting those trends, a rebound in crude oil prices, helped energy stocks like Exxon Mobil Corp. to advance.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 2.73 points, or 0.02 percent, at 12,512.25. The Standard&Poor's 500 Index was down 0.49 point, or 0.03 percent, at 1,423.33. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 0.06 point at 2,484.91.
