HP Planning Board approves Rs 14,000 crore plan size

Shimla, Jan 12 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh's State Planning Board today approved the proposed Eleventh Five Year Plan of Rs 14,000 crore, while laying emphasis on increasing farm incomes, hydropower development and developing vital infrastructure in the state.

The meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Dharamshala in Kangra district of the state, also approved the first annual plan size of Rs 2,100 crore for the next fiscal.

Addressing board members on the occasion, he said the proposals for the Eleventh Plan beginning from next fiscal and ending at the conclusion of 2011-12 had been framed within the proposed aggregate size of Rs. 14,000 crore.

Mr Singh said the annual plan size of Rs 2,100 crore for 2007-08 comprised of Rs 1,629 crore for general plan, Rs 231 crore for scheduled Caste Component, Rs 189 crore for tribal sub plan and Rs 51 crore for backward area sub plan.

A sum of Rs 231 crore out of a total of Rs 2,100 crore annual plan size had been marked for improving the lot of the schedule castes in the state, he said.
