HC orders status quo in the sale of Bhutan Lotteries

Kochi, Jan 12 (UNI) The Kerala Hig Court today ordered status quo in the sale of Bhutan Lottery tickets in the state.

A Division Bench comprising Mr Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Mr Justice M N Krishnan passed the order while hearing an appeal filed by Balaji Agencies, promoters of Bhutan Lotteries in the state.

Counsel for the petitioner contended that the State Government had banned the sale of Bhutan Lottery tickets in the state since the judgement of a single judge of the Court on January 10.

The counsel further submitted that the Court had given permission to the promoters to conduct business till the registration was cancelled by the government.

After hearing the counsel and government pleader the Division Bench passsed the order to maintain status quo for a week and the case was posted for January 16 for further hearing.

The order will help the petitioner to conduct the sale of lotteries in the state as before.
