Chandigarh, Jan 12 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notice to the Haryana government for March 8 in the torture of a 14-year-old Panchkula boy by the police.

A writ petition by social activist Utsav Bains, today sought the court's intervention in the case saying that the police was continuing to harass the victim, Sumit, and his family.

The plea has sought directions for providing security of police from some other state to the family in view of the threat to their lives at the hands of Panchkula police.

The petitioner informed the court of Justice M M S Bedi that police was frequently visiting Sumit's home threatening the family, using abusive language for even his mother and sister.

On April 13,2005 the boy was beaten up mercilessly by police at CIA staff unit located at Mata Mansa Devi complex after hanging him upside down.
