Growth in soymeal export

Indore, Jan 12 (UNI) Export of soybean meal during December 2006 increased by 14 percent over the corresponding period last year.

About 6.15 lakh tonnes of soymeal was exported last month against 5.39 lakh tonnes during the same period in 2005 registering a growth of 14.05 percent.

Total exports of soybean meal for April- December this year was 28.89 lakh tonnes against 17.85 lakh tonnes during the same period last year showing a jump of 61.87 percent, according to Mr Rajesh Agrawal, Coordinator of the Soybean Processers Association of India.

The export figures for the Oil year (October - September) also showed commendable performance by the trade with a growth of 40 percent over last year.
