EB arrested two, seized 20 kg opium destroys 4500 plants

Agartala, Jan 12 (UNI) The Enforcement Branch (EB) conducted an anti-opium drive and seized more than 20 kgs of contraband goods from two areas under Melaghar police station in Tripura's west district during last three days.

Police said EB personnel led by Sub Inspector Bimal Chandra Das conducted raids at a house in Shibnagar area, 15 kms from Melaghar under Sonamura sub-division, on Wednesday last and seized 15 kgs of opium and arrested the house owner.

In yet another incident about five kgs of opium were seized from the same area.

In a special raid the EB on Tuesday destroyed more than 4500 illegal ganja plants at Taibandal and Anandapur. No one has been arrested so far.
