Convicted blast accused moves TADA court for Civic Election
Mumbai, Jan 12 (UNI) Convicted 93' Mumbai Serial blasts accused Salim Durani, who is city unit President of the Janmat Party, led by actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar, today moved the Tada Court for bail for finalising the list of party-workers to contest the upcoming civic polls here.
Earlier, arguing before Tada Judge P D Kode, defence counsel Farhana Shah said that Durani, who is languishing at Arthur road Jail, is required outside for participating in various activities of the party during the civic poll.
However, the court asked if there was any provision under the law to grant release of a accused in such circumstances. The defence replied in the negative and sought permission to withdraw the plea, which was granted.
Meanwhile, the court also directed the Superintendent of the Arthur Road Jail to send another blasts accused Naseem Barmare to the state-run J J Hospital for undergoing CT scan at the cost of the state.
