Mumbai, Jan 12 (UNI) The BJP today demanded two more seats soon after reaching an understanding with its alliance partner Shiv Sena for the forthcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

City BJP President Prakash Mehta admitted that party has demanded two additional seats in place of BJP-BMC group leader Parag Alavani's seat which is reserved. The ruling Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in the BMC last night reached an understanding on seat-sharing for the upcoming Civic elections with the Sena contesting 155 seats and BJP 72.

Mr Mehta announced names of 44 candidates out of 72 seats allotted to the party and added that remaining 28 candidates will be announced by tomorrow.

Talking to reporters, Mr Mehta said the list includes 18 women, five advocates and two doctors. So far 15 sitting Corporators have been re-nominated with the wards of seven Corporators changed due to de-limitation or reservation.

He said the decision on remaining sitting corporators will be taken tomorrow.

Mr Mehta claimed that BJP-Sena never reached the breaking point during the discussions on seat sharing.
