Bengal Govt sounds border alert
Kolkata, Jan 12 (UNI) In a bid to prevent infiltration, the West Bengal government has sounded an alert and mounted vigil on the India-Bangladesh border following the declaration of emergency in Bangladesh.
''We have sounded an alert on the India-Bangladesh border and asked the administration to keep vigil. We are concerned with the possibility of infiltration following the development there,'' Home Secretary Prasad Ranjan Ray told reporters.
In reply to a question, the Home Secretary said the India-Bangladesh trade through Bongaon had suffered a jolt yesterday, after President's rule was promulgated. However, the situation returned to normal today, he added.
