Abducted Rajkot businessman found dead in Surendranagar

Rajkot, Jan 12 (UNI) The body of a city businessman Vijay Kotak, who was abducted by a group of persons demanding a ransom of Rs two crore, was recovered from Sayala village in Surendranagar district today.

The 52-year-old businessman, having a showroom ''Chetan hardware'' at the Canal Road here, had received a telephone call from a person, claiming to be an Income-tax official, two days back. He wanted to discuss about a 'forthcoming raid.' Subsequently, he was asked to come to a place near Chandarana Petrol Pump on the outskirts of the city.

Police said that when Kotak reached the petrol pump he was abducted by five men in an Indica car. After the abduction, a call was received by his family damanding a ransom of Rs 2 crore.

The incident was immediately reported to the police commissioner K M Nityananadan, who then organised a search team to nab the abductors.
