A police constable and youth arrested on cyber crime offence

Rourkela, Jan 12 (UNI) Police have arrested one youth and an armed police reserve constable under the Information Technology Act for drawing money from the customers' account through website fraud.

Police said Debashish Paundit and Rabi Narayan Sahu, an APR constable, were drawing money from the customers' accounts from Gujarat, Baroda and Jaipur through website fraud.

Their crime went unnoticed for quite some time as they were drawing very little amount through cyber fraud. They used to operate as many as 300 accounts in one hour, police said.

Police claimed that for the first time in the state the two were arrested under 66 of the Information Technology Act yesterday and sent to jail today after their bail petitions were rejected by a local court.
