A 17-year girl attempts suicide

Mumbai, Jan 12 (UNI) A 17-year-old girl attempted suicide owing to refusal of her fiance to marry her, at Sai Sheela building at Mira Road in Thane district.

The Mira road police here said that a 17-year-old physically challenged girl fell in love with a boy since last couple of months and she was pestering the boy to marry her.

After the boy rejected her demand yesterday she got frustrated and poured Kerosene and had set herself ablaze, sources said.

She has suffered 50 to 60 per cent burn injuries and was admitted in Bhagwati Hospital, Borivali, in western suburbs.

Police has registered a complaint of attempt to suicide and investigations are in progress, no arrest has been made so far, sources added.
