3 children die after consuming poisonous 'barfi'

Aligarh, Jan 12 (UNI) Three children, including two sisters, died after consuming poisonous food in Delhi Gate area here last night, police today said.

The incident occurred at Nivri village, when some children consumed 'barfi' (a sweetmeat) lying on the ground.

They allegedly distributed the sweet among themselves and ate it.

Soon, their condition deteriorated and they were rushed to hospital, where Neha (5), Razia (7) and Abid (5) died.

Two others are still recuperating.

A case had been registered.
