203 nominations filed from 101 wards on the 4th day today

Mumbai, Jan 12 (UNI) As many as 203 nominations were filed from 101 wards on the fourth day of filing nomination papers for the 227 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) wards election scheduled to be held on February one.

The BMC officials said here this evening that till 1700 hrs, a total of 203 nomination papers were filed from 101 wards for the election of 227 councillors for the BMC.

More than 83.88 lakh electorates will exercise their franchise for the BMC election, out of the total population of 1.19 crore of the metropolis. A total of 23,81,353 electorates are from Mumbai city, 36,27,052 from Western suburbs and 23,80,050 eastern suburbs.

The last day of filing of nominations is January 15, scrutiny and valid candidates' list would be announced on Janauary 16, withdrawal of nomination is on January 19, symbol would be allocated to the candidate on January 20, final list of candidates and list of polling booth would be announced on January 22, he said.

For the smooth conducted of elections, six IAS officials will do overall supervision and over 40,000 employees have been deployed for the same, the officer added.
