Police recover dead body of woman

Barasat, Jan 11(UNI) Police today recovered a body of a woman hanging from a tree near a river at Palpakuria village here in North 24 Parganas.

The woman could have been raped and murdered before being hanged from the tree, police said.

However, the identity of the woman was not known after villagers called by the police could not ascertain the deceased.

''The assailants might have brought her here from elsewhere,'' police said.

A case has been registered and investigations are on, they said.
