New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The North East Student Organisation (NESO) has condemned the killing of innocent people in Asom by the underground militants of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).

Talking to UNI over phone from Asom, NESO President, Dr Samujjal Bhattacharjee said they were opposed to any sort of violence as it could never help in resolving the matter.

He said ULFA should shun violence and rather come back to the peace talks without any pre-conditions and similarly, the Centre should also make serious efforts for the resumption of early talks with the ULFA leaders without any conditions.

Dr Bhattacharjee is also the advisor to All Assam Student Union (AASU).

He said the AASU and Purbuttor Hindustani Sammelan (PHS) would jointly hold silent demonstration all over the State tomorrow from 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs to protest the killings of innocent people.

Leaders of both the organisations will also hold hunger strike from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs in front of the Raj Bhawan to protest the killings and demand security of the lives and property of non-Asomese people, Dr Bhattacharjee added.
