Godrej Appliances to capture 10% market share in 2007-08

Kolkata, Jan 11 (UNI) Godrej Appliances will sell one lakh microwaves in the next financial year with the target of acheiving a 10 per cent market share, Godrej Appliances Product Group Head Himanshu Jain said here today.

Launching a new "first steam Microwave oven", Mr Jain told mediapersons, ''Currently our market share is 5 per cent and we want to double it by the next fiscal.'' ''The company is importing the product from China,'' Mr Jain said. The company is using its brand name while selling the product.

''The size of the microwave market in India is Rs 500 crore and we aim to capture a sizeable part of the market,'' he said.

Currently there are around 50 showrooms in the country where the new microwave would be available. ''We aim to become a significat player in this category and this product will target topline market,'' he said.
