CM announces Government Degree College for Naura
Dharamshala, Jan 11 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced the opening up of a Government Degree College at Naura in Kangra district, taking the total number of colleges opened during the year to 16.
Addressing a public meeting at Dheera on the seventh day of his winter sojourn to the district here, he said the college would facilitate the students of the area and other adjoining areas to complete their education near to their homes.
Mr Singh said that a transparent, efficient and a responsive government had been provided to the people of the state during the last three and half years.
The state government had initiated several welfare schemes in the state during the last few years for the benefit of the masses, he said.
Reiterating his government's resolve for providing a transparent, efficient and a responsive government, Mr Singh said efforts were on to eradicate corruption from the state.
The government was also exploring opportunities for creating jobs of sweepers and allied categories for people who failed to pursue their education and remained unemployed.
He said the investigating agencies have been directed to ensure that the corrupt were not spared, while innocent not touched.
The state government has created over 65,000 job opportunities in the government sector and over three lakh in private sector during the last three and half years, he said.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated 33 KV power sub station at Kural and laid foundation stones of flow irrigation scheme Rai-di Kuhal and Neugal Khad Bridge on Dheera Sihotu road, to be constructed at estimated costs of Rs 2.26 and Rs 2.03 crore respectively.
