Centre using Governors to destabilise non-Cong govts: Mulayam
Lucknow, Jan 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today charged the UPA government at the Centre with using Raj Bhawans to destablise non-Congress governments in the states.
The CM claimed that crimes of magnitude equivalent or higher than Nithari serial killings in Congress-ruled states were being ignored, governments of non-Congress parties were being harassed in the name of law and order.
''Congress is running its party units in non-Congress ruled states with the help of Governors. But, governors cannot help it win polls and connect with the electorate.'' He maintained that while Bihar Governor Buta Singh tried hard, he could not help Congress form government at Patna.
The CM was addressing an All-India Kurmi Swabhiman Mahasammelan in the state capital.
''Six months after the Samajwadi Party-led government was formed in UP, Congress started threatening us with imposition of President's rule,'' he said adding UP was being selectively targetted by the centre.
Speaking on Nithari case, the SP supremo said while the state police had cracked the case swiftly, a CBI probe was ordered.
''Although Nithari case is barbaric, the state government was targetted by the Opposition for wrong reasons. I wonder why a CBI probe was not ordered when 28 people were killed for loot in Gurgaon...why the Asom government was not removed following killings of Hindi-speaking migrants by ULFA,'' he quipped.
''We have already dismissed six cops and suspended three others for lapses at Nithari,'' he reminded.
The CM also slammed the BJP for being a purely communal party.
''Congress and BJP have joined hands to uproot us from the state...they should stop conspiring against the SP,'' he added.
He took on the BSP and termed it a party without any policy. ''It has no constitution or policy. The only agenda is to sell tickets for elections...this leads to corruption in politics,'' he added.
