BJP govt in Gujarat is pursuing anti-farmer policies: Bhuria

Ahmedabad, Jan 11 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shantilal Bhuria today criticiing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Government for its anti-farmer policies and alleged that the shortage of urea fertilizer in the state was a result of its administrative failure.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Bhuria said that the shortage of urea fertilizer in the state was not due to short-supply from the Central Government, but because of the failure of the distribution system in BJP-ruled Gujarat.

He clarified that the Central Government had given adequate quota of fertilizers to every state as per the demand of the State Governments. The shortage of urea fertilizers in the state was due to the hand-in-glove connections between black marketeers and BJP government's officers and leaders, he alleged.

The Union Minister lamented that it was shameful on the part of the Gujarat Government to file police complaints against approximately 1,00,000 farmers for power theft and disconnect their electricity connections.

He claimed that the Modi Government can afford to make huge expenditures on programmes like 'Vibrant Gujarat' and 'Kite Festival' to please rich industrialists for mutual benefits, but it has no soft corner for poor farmers.
