Bangalore Medical College to be upgraded on AIIMS lines
Bangalore, Jan 11 (UNI) The Centre has decided to upgrade Bangalore Medical College on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi with a fund of Rs 100 crore, Karnataka Medical Education Minister V S Acharya said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said the Centre had already released Rs ten lakh as part of the funds. The State Government would contribute Rs 20 crore for the upgradation of the college.
The Centre had decided to upgrade 12 other medical colleges at the national level, he added.
Dr Acharya said the State Government had sanctioned Rs 285 crore for taking up phase two work of the six new medical colleges in the State. All the six colleges would be fully functional by the next academic year.
He said the Government had decided to set up a Panchakarma centre at Mysore Ayurvedic college at a cost of Rs 9.12 crore. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, in a review meeting held under his chairmanship here, promised to sanction funds in the next budget.
