Apex court to decide legality of 2002 petrol pump cancellations
New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The Supreme Court will tomorrow pronounce its judgement on the validity of the 2002 order of the NDA Government which cancelled allotments of petrol pumps and LPG agencies to the kith and kin and staff members of politicians.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal had reserved the judgement after hearing arguments from the petitioners, who had challenged the order on the grounds that it was illegal to cancel allotments of petrol pumps and LPG agencies in cases where no illegality or favouritism was involved.
The NDA government had passed the controversial order after corruption in the allotment was exposed.
