SPP asked to take notice of habeas corpus petition for seer accuser

Bangalore, Jan 10 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today directed the State Public Prosecutor to take notice of the Habeas Corpus petition filed by one S Srinidhi alleging that his uncle K S Venkatesh, who had filed an attempt to murder case against the Udupi Pejavar mutt seer, and mother K S Rukmini were illegally taken into custody by the K G Halli Police on January seven.

Mr Justice H L Dattu and Mr Justice Anand Byrareddy gave the direction. The petition would come up for hearing next week.

The petitioner alleged that the brother-sister duo were being taken to police station since January four and tortured from morning till evening and allowed to go home only late. They were badly injured when he visited them at the police station and later their whereabouts were not known.

Mr Venkatesh had filed a complaint in the Bangalore City Metropolitan Magistrate Court that Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Pejavar mutt and some others had threatened him in connection with a loan taken by his friend from the seer.
