Jaipal Reddy to inaugurate conference against FDI in retail tomor

New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) The trade bodies of different states will hold a two-day conference here tomorrow to protest against Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector.

To be organised under the umbrella of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the congress will be inaugurated by Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy. Senior BJP Leader Vijay Kumar will deliver the key note address.

The meeting will be chaired by CAIT National Executive President B C Bhartia, who is also the President of Nag-Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce, Nagpur.

The event will discuss issues such as sealing in the national capital, making India a free trade zone, abolition of Central Sales Tax and road map to Goods And Services Tax, besides FDI and big industrial houses in retail trade.

Disparities and anomalies in VAT, simplification and rationalisation of tax structure and abrogation of out-dated tax and other trade laws will also feature in the discussions.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said a pre-budget memorandum on behalf of the traders will be drafted and a charter for 'Sampurn Vyapar Swarajya' (absolute trade sovereignty for internal trade) released at the conference.
