Allahabad, Jan 10 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today summoned on January 18, a doctor who was purportedly shown by a news channel -- then posted at the district hospital, Noida -- accepting a bribe for chopping off the limb of a healthy person to enable the latter to enter the 'begging business'.

A division bench comprising Justices V M Sahai and B A Zaidi has also summoned the CD aired by the channel on July 29, 2006.

The HC has also directed the Uttar Pradesh principal secretary, medical health -- who has also been summoned -- to explain as to what action had been taken against the doctor, Dr Ajai Agrawal.

Dr Agarwal is presently posted at the district hospital, Hathras.

The order was passed on a writ petition filed by Dr Vinod Kumar, who had challenged his transfer from the district hospital, Gautam Budh Nagar.

The bench has also asked Dr Agrawal to show cause as to why a proper inquiry should not be initiated against him.

The court directed that a copy of this order be served on Dr Agrawal through the principal secretary, medical and health.
