Mumbai, Jan 10 (UNI) Revolutionary poet, folk singer and Naxal ideologue Gadar has said lawmakers have failed to uphold democracy and constitution in the country by depriving the most basic amenity of land, water and electricity to the poor and common man.

Addressing mediapersons at the press club here last evening, the revolutionary poet condemned policy makers and political parties cutting across party line for their ''Brahmanical, caste and imperialistic nexus'' in depriving people of their rights of livelihood.

Gadar, who is visiting the state to protest against the recent Khairlanji killings, said the killings were a result of casteist politics and untocuhability.

He demanded that the government set up an impartial enquiry under a Supreme Court Judge to investigate the political motive behind the killings, role of the state and administration for their lacklustrue response and the role of state terrorism.

Attacking the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) culture, Gadar warned that the people would take on the streets if the government kept on seizing land in the name of economic development and upliftment.

''With the onset of liberalisation in the early 90's and the unchecked implementation of the policies have made way for a systematic destruction of the Indian economy, particularly the agro industry,'' he said.

Unfortunately, with all the development and growth around, the middle class and working class people across the country have become hostage to the installment culture and every aspect of their life revolves around installment and loans, he asserted.

Gadar hit the limelight for his close proximity and sympathy for the Naxalbari movement in Andhra Pradesh. In the early and mid 90's, he was banned and had almost spent six years underground in the forests of Andhra Pradesh and Mahrashtra.
