Cong leader questions K'taka CM about farm loan waiver
Mysore, Jan 10 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader H Vishwanath today urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to spell out ways and means for waiving off loans of farmers in the State, as announced by him.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said the Chief Minister should make statements responsibly and any decision on serious issues should be taken by the Cabinet. The decision, if implemented, would ruin the rural economy and completely collapse the cooperative sector in the State, he opined.
Over 100 farmers' suicides have been reported in the State after the present coalition Ministry came to power, he claimed, adding that if the waiver was ordered, depositors in cooperative societies would be affected and one could expect them taking the extreme step.
