7,526 kanal land obtained for rehabilitation of Dal dwellers

Jammu, Jan 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Housing department has acquired 7,526 kanal of land for the rehabilitation of people from the world-famous Dal lake, a minister today said.

As many as 300 families would be shifted to the new site from the Dal area soon, minister for Housing and Urban Development Qazi Mohammad Afzal informed the Legislative Assembly.

Replying to the supplementaries of Mr Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon and Ms Khem Lata Wukhloo during the question hour, the minister said housing department had sought 10,000 kanals for the rehabilitation of all Dal dwellers.

However, the department had allotted 7,526 kanals of Rakh land for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers, he added.
