Veturi to receive Jandhyala memorial award on Jan 14

Vijayawada, Jan 9 (UNI) Well-known lyricist Veturi Sundara Ramamurthy would be presented with the 'Jandhyala memorial award at a function here on January 14.

Abhiruchi, an organisation engaged in promoting culture and performing arts and the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) would jointly bestow the award to Mr Veturi at a function to be held at Thummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram here.

Talking to UNI, Abhiruchi President P Krishnaji said the awardee would be felicitated as part of the silver jubilee celebration of the VMC.

Some of the melodious songs penned by Veturi would be sung by singers at a musical extravaganza conducted by Mayur orchestra on the occasion, he said.

The organisation was giving cash award every year to yesteryear artistes. This year Abhiruchi would be honouring veteran stage artiste Seethalatha by presenting him a purse of Rs 5,000, he said adding Seethalatha had acted in many plays directed by late Jandhyala.
