J'khand HC orders govt to file report by Jan 18 in Abhishek case

Ranchi, Jan 9 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court today ordered the state government to file a summary report in the reported death case of Birla Institute of Techonology student Abhishek Mishra by January 18.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice Permod Kohli, passed the order while hearing court of its own motion.

Rajeev Ranjan, who have been appointed as the amicus curie of the case, pleaded before the court that the death of Abhishek Mishra was ''suspicious''.

The DSP has filed an affidavit in the court. However, dissatisfied with it, the court said it was more concerned about affidavit prepared by the investigating officer inquiring the matter.

Yesterday, the photographs and CDs of Abhisek Mishra were also submitted before the court.

The court, after hearing both the parties, directed the state government to file the summary report of the case by January 18.

The court has taken suomotu action of the case after receiving a letter from Abhisek's father, Subhas Chandra Mishra, who is a doctor at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi.

Mr Mishra wrote letter to the Chief Justice Jharkhand High Court after police declared that his son died due to drowning in the Dasam Fall away from the capital.

Abhishek, who died due to drowning at Dassam fall on December 8, where he along with his friends, including Ragini, daughter of Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, went for a picnic.
