Congress decries apathy of govt towards farmers
Patna, Jan 9 (UNI) The Congress in Bihar today lambasted the Nitish Kumar government for its alleged failure in providing fertilisers to the farmers.
Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee President (BPCC) president Sadanand Singh said that potato crop worth crores of rupees were damaged due to affliction of 'late blite' disease.
''Farmers were facing heavy losses due to supply of inferior quality seeds and short supply of fertlisers'' he added.
Mr Singh claimed that the government was buying luxury cars for ministers and legislators but it had turned a blind eye towards the sufferings of the farmers.
The government should take steps for payments of compensation to the farmers for losses they suffered due to non-availability of fertilisers, he added.
The Congress party would launch an agitation on these issues if the government failed to take remedial measures soon, he warned.
