CoI into Frozen Meat Contract Irregularities Indicts Lt Gen
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) An Army Court of Inquiry has indicted a Lt Gen and four other officers in the ''Frozen Meat Scandal'' which rocked the Northern Command -- as also senior Army circles -- in November 2005.
Following reports then of alleged irregularities in the procurement of frozen meat for supply to troops deployed in the Ladakh sector of the Army Northern Command, a CoI was appointed headed by erstwhile Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (P&S) Lt Gen Gur Dittar Singh.
The Court of Inquiry went into the entire gamut of the ''Frozen Meat Contract'' allocation system in the Ladakh sector, an official spokesperson said here today.
Finally, it indicted Lt Gen SK Dahiya, who was then heading the ASC services in the Northern Command, and four other officers finding them guilty of ''various lapses'' in the allocation operations.
Now that the CoI has been finalised, ''expeditious administrative action'' has been ordered against all five officers, the spokesperson said.
