Close associate of Dawood arrested by Delhi Police

New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) The Delhi Police have arrested a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim, Fazal-ur-Rehman and Hazi Mastan, wanted in connection with several cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and cases under Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act.

Ateek Ahmed, a notorious and desperate interstate gangster involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and cases under Explosive Substances Act, assault on police party, riots, extortion and Arms Act of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, was arrested by a Delhi police team at Meera Road (East) Mumbai yesterday where he had gone to meet an associate.

He has been brought to Delhi from Mumbai, police said.

Intensive interrogation of Ateek revealed that he has been involved in criminal activities since 1970 when he was arrested in a case of Arms Act in Kanpur.

A reward of Rs 2 lakh had been declared by Uttar Pradesh for apprehension of Ateek. He has also been declared Proclaimed offender in a number of cases.
