All party Delegation urged PM to speed up four laning of NH9

New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) An all party delegation led by Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy today called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to speed up four laning work in Nalgonda district on the NH 9, connecting Hyderabad to Kolkata.

The delegation comprising of Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy and all the MLAs of Nalgonda district apprised the Prime Minister about the need to take up this work on a priority basis as over 100 km road link carried very high traffic between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The NH 9 also connects Hyderabad with Pune on the western side and Vijayawada and Bhubanewhar on the eastern side of the peninsula.

The delegation said that it was over one-and-a-half year after the proposal to improve the NH 9 to four lanes under NHDP phase III and the tenders were yet to be called. This will cause considerable delay for the work to commence they said.

The existing road was very narrow and considering the intensity of traffic, the number of fatal accidents was also very high.

The delegates urged that the process of detailed project report be expedited so that the actual work could commence at least in the coming financial year.

The leaders also sought Union Minister of State for Defence to intervene and speed up the proposal for a military field firing range at Rachakonda area in Narayanpur Cowtuppal mandals of Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy districts of AP.

The members in the delegation included Mr S Sudhakar Reddy, MP, Mr R Damodar Reddy, Mrs Uma Madhava Reddy, Mr P Venkata Reddy, Mr Komatreddy Venkata Reddy, Mr Vedas Venkaiah, Mr V Purushotham Reddy, Dr K Nagesh, Mr Ravinder Naik, Mr J Ranga Reddy and Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mr K Narayan Reddy, Chairman of Nalgonda Zilla Parishad.
