UP launches milk vending machines on lines of Mother Dairy

Lucknow, Jan 8 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Milk Union has brought an unique 'Batan Dabao Doodh Pao' scheme in the state capital on the lines of Mother Dairy booths functioning in the National Capital.

Lucknow Milk Union General Manager S K Prasad said ''seeing the popularity of automatic milk vending machines, around 10 such machines have been set up at various milk booths in Indira Nagar, Anand Nagar and Alambagh.'' Parag standard milk would be available at the rate of Rs 15 per litre at these booths. Parag has also distributed discount coupons in over 200 houses by which people would get a rebate of Rs two per litre.

The consumption of milk and milk products in Lucknow has seen a sudden spurt in recent times and the demand has grown much beyond the local production levels.

The UP Milk Union had already decided that the state capital would be supplemented with supply from the neighbouring districts.

Now, tankers would ferry milk from Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Rae Bareli, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Lakhimpur, Gonda, Bahraich and Basti districts to the Lucknow Milk Union dairy for processing and supply.
