Thomson Corporation expands presence in country

Hyderabad, Jan 08 (UNI) Thomson Corporation, one of the world's leading information services companies, announced the opening of a Global Service Delivery Center in the city.

The facility was Thomson's second centre in India and complemented the company's sigificant operations in Bangalore.

Thomson Corporation Shared Services Vice-President Pradeep Lankapalli told media today the facility here would serve as a major multi-functional shared service centre for Thomson. It would support Thomson's global operations by providing knowledge-based services across areas like Research, Finance, Accounting, Technology and Customer Support.

He said Thomson planned to hire a mix of experienced professionals as well as under-graduate and post-graduate students from leading educational institutions with relevant skills for the Hyderabad centre. The company expected to hire approximately 1000 employees for the centre over the next three years.

Thomson Financial India Senior Vice-President and Managing Director Sandhya Vasudevan said opening this shared service centre represented a reaffirmation of Thomson's long term confidence in India.

Since commencing operations in the country in 1994, Thomson had expanded its headcount and scope of services. Over 2200 employees were located in Bangalore, she said.
