Police unfold mystery of nine serial murders ; 3 arrested
Hyderabad, Jan 8 (UNI) The city police arrested three people in connection with the brutal murder of nine people, including two women in a year.
Producing the arrested before the newspersons here, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Prabhakar Reddy said N Ramulu, P Pavan and A Ravinder Reddy, migrant labourers and addicted to liquor, had committed the murders by smashing the heads of the deceased with boulders for paltry amounts just to quench their thirst for liquor.
One more accused in the serial murders, Bihari Venkat was absconding. Efforts were on to nab him.
Stating that the two dead bodies were yet to be identified out of nine killed, the Police Commissioner said the accused had committed six murders within a span of one week from December 29, 2006 to January four. They confessed that they killed two persons and robbed Rs 30 to quench their thirst for liquor.
Mr Reddy said police were investigating further to trace out more information whether there were any ulterior motives and sexual abuse. The mental condition of the arrested would also be studied, he added.
Admitting that the Cyberabad Police Commissionarate was facing shortage of security forces, Mr Reddy said the relationship with the local people would be strengthened to stop such murders.
