NSCN faction in gun battle at Athibhung, Isak if safe

Kohima, Jan 8 (UNI) Rival factions of NSCN (Khaplang) and NSCN (Isak-Muivah) involoved in a fierce gun battle at Athibhung and not at NSCN (IM)'s headquarters at Camp Hebron as reported earlier of the day, official sources confirmed tonight.

A report had said that NSCN(K) rebels had attacked their rival headquarters where chairman Isak Chishi Swu was camping.

A latest report confirmed that Mr Swu was safe as gun battle between the factions was fought elsewhere.

They said the rival groups fought gun battle at Peren district and there was no report of any casualty.

Highly placed sources said remours flew that rival faction had attacked NSCM (IM) headquarters at Camp Bebron in the monring.

But latest report confirmed that the NSCM(IM) rebels attacked a rival camp at Athibhung. But there was no casualty so far.
