National Town and Country Planners Congress in Kochi
Kochi, Jan 8 (UNI) The 55th 'National Town and Country Planners Congress' will be held here from January nine.
The three-day Congress, which will be held on the invitation of the Kerala Government, would have the theme ''Reforms in Town and Country Planning Legislation,'' an official release said here today.
The Congress, to be inaugurated by Governor R L Bhatia, would deliberate on emerging town and country planning processes, making cities safer, participatory planning and development control regulations.
Around 300 delegates comprising planners, educationists, researchers, professionals not only from town planning discipline but also from allied disciplines like engineering and architecture, are expected to participate in the event.
The policy makers, administrators and delegates from overseas were also expected for the Congress. The programme is organised by Institute of Town Planners and sponsored by Union Ministry of Urban Development and co-sponsored by the state government and other departments concerned.
Altogether 25 technical papers would be presented at the Congress and the event would be a platform for the delegates to share their experience and evolve a stratergy to suit local conditions for the planned development of towns and cities, the release added.
