HDK defends resort visit by Party legislators

Gulbarga, Jan 8: Frank and open discussions took place in the meet of Janata Dal (secular) legislators at a resort near Pune, Karnataka Chief Minsiter H D Kumaraswamy today said.

Strongly defending the trip to Amby Valley the Chief Minister told newsmen here that the three day sojourn enabled party legislators to air their grievences on implementation of various welfare and developmental works by the JD(S)-BJP coalition government.

He said apart from discussing the developmental issues the legislators also had a brain-storming sessions on evolving strategy to strengthen the base of the party taking into account the forthcoming elections to the local bodies.

He said the trip also helped him to have a one-to-one meeting with party legislators and take their views in strengthening the party. "There were no any discussions pertaining to any individual's grievances" Mr Kumaraswamy said.

JD(S) legislators were at Amby Valley from January five to seven.

Barring Home Minister M P Prakash and Public Works minister H D Revanna, senior party legislators D Manjunath, Mirazuddin Patel all the other ministers and legislators have attended the meeting convened at the resort.

Mr M Y Patil, the JD(S) legislator from Afzalpur taluk in Gulbarga district, who attended to meet described the trip as most fruitful and said that frank discussions were took place with the chief minister on various issues. Some of the legislators also made critical review of the functioning of the ministers belonging the BJP the coalition partner in the government.

Former Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, who had quit to his post before leaving to resort also participated and took part in the discussions keenly, he said.
