Haryana to spend Rs 26 cr on ITIs

Chandigarh, Jan 8 (UNI) The Haryana government will spend an amount of Rs 26.22 crore for providing improved infrastructural facilities in all the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state.

A spokesman for the Industrial Training and Vocational Education Department said an amount of Rs 19.10 crore was being spent for the procurement of machinery, tools and equipment and Rs 7.12 crore on the construction of new buildings and repair of the old buildings.

He said the department was running 48 ITIs, 31 ITIs for Women, 8 Teacher Training Course Centres, 107 Vocational Education Institutes and a Government School of Arts of Rohtak and a Government Footwear Institute in Rewari.

The total seating capacity of the ITIs including Women ITIs, was 15,572 and that of Vocational Education Institutes was 16,353. Industrial training was being imparted in 53 trades (Engineering and Non-Engineering) in ITIs whereas in Vocational Education Institutes, training was being imparted in 19 vocations, he said.

In ITI's different courses of one to three years' duration were being run while in the Vocational Institutes, courses of two years' duration were being run, he added.
