Haryana receives 68 proposals for setting up of SEZs
New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) Haryana, the land locked state of northern part of the country has received 68 proposals for setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state with an investment of Rs 1,75,000 crore with the employment generation potential of 20 lakh people, said State Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Speaking at the Chief Minister's session at the 79th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI) here today, Mr Hooda said this also included the mega SEZ being established by Reliance Industries in a joint venture with Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC). This project would come up over an area of 25,000 acres of land in Gurgaon and Jhajjar districts with an investment of Rs 40,000 crore.
He said Haryana has now been put on a fast track of development in all spheres. The growth of industry and industry related infrastructure has been phenomenal during the last couple of years.
The new policy initiatives announced last year have already started showing very encouraging results.
The state has witnessed an unprecedented flow of investment to the tune of about Rs 10,000 crore ever since the new industrial policy was announced in 2005. Projects with an investment of more than Rs 40,000 crore are also in the pipe line which incluided FDI proposals of Rs 1,380 crore.
He said HSIIDC was acquiring about 20,000 acres of land for development of industrial estates and parks, new economic hubs, mega petrochemical hub, industrial model townships, theme park, food parks, gems and jewellery park, apparel park and textile park, and leather garments park.
As a part of the state initiatives, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway was under implementation and economic hubs would be developed around this Expressway, which would generate large economic activities and employment opportunities, he added.
Apart from this, the Ministry of Food Processing Industry was in the process of setting up of National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in the state at a project cost of Rs 350 crore. This project will be first of its kind in the country.
He said the state governemnt has also decided to set up more Industrial Model Townships (IMTs), one each at Kharkhoda, Rohtak, Faridabad and Yamunanagar. IMT Manesar was being developed as a prominent cluster of automobile and auto components where Maruti Udyog Ltd was undertaking its massive expansion programme by creating fresh investment of Rs 8,000 crore, he added.
